  10. This is the official supplemental icon set #1 for the NewIcons package.  
  11. It contains over 500 NewIcon images for everything from games to DTP to 
  12. the Video Toaster.  All images were hand drawn by artist Roger McVey.
  13.  
  14. Use the CopyNewIcon utility supplied with the NewIcons package to install
  15. them onto your system.  Usage is outlined in the NewIcons Amigaguide 
  16. documentation file.

  18. If you are not running the NewIcons system, you will not be able to see
  19. these icon images -- they will only appear as tiny squares.  The NewIcons
  20. system is written by Nicola Salmoria and is available via Internet FTP
  21. from any Aminet site (such as wuarchive.wustl.edu) as 
  22.  
  23. pub/aminet/util/wb/NewIcons.lha
  24.  
  25. The NewIcons system allows the Amiga user to use icons that look color
  26. correct on any AGA system, independent of the workbench palette settings.
  27. Up to 256 color icons are supported.  The icons included in this package
  28. use the default NewIcons palette so as to not use up all of your workbench
  29. allocated pens.  The default NewIcon images use 14 colors.  Also packaged
  30. with NewIcons is Deficons, which supplies default images for dozens of
  31. different file types without icons and will select the user-defined
  32. default tool for you when you click on the icon.

  34. NewIcons works with OS2.0+ as well, with a 16 color icon limitation.

  36. The first set of NewIcons backdrops has been released, and more are on
  37. the way.  The first set contains over 100 NewIcons seamless backdrops
  38. which are compatible with the NewIcons default palette.

  40. Roger is hard at work creating an image Editor for the NewIcons system.
